Know Your Vote is designed to provide civic research tools while collecting as little personal information as reasonably possible.

Information stored on your device

Saved candidates and saved races may be stored locally in your browser using local storage. This allows saved features to work without requiring a user account.

Analytics and basic telemetry

KYV may use basic analytics or error-monitoring tools to understand page views, clicks, device/browser type, approximate usage patterns, and technical issues. This information helps improve reliability, usability, and accessibility.

Cookies and similar technologies

KYV or third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies for hosting, analytics, security, donation processing, or site functionality.

Donations and Stripe

If you choose to donate, payment processing is handled by Stripe or a similar payment provider. KYV does not store your full payment card information. Donation transactions are subject to the payment provider’s own terms and privacy practices.

Contact information

If you email KYV, the information you provide may be used to respond to your message, evaluate corrections, review source updates, or improve the platform.

Public-source aggregation

KYV organizes public candidate and election information from public records, campaign materials, official election resources, and other source materials. Public-source information may remain publicly accessible through the original source.

No sale of personal data

KYV does not sell personal data, individual voter research activity, candidate preferences, or personally identifiable political-interest data.
